A2W Plumbing & Hot Water Limited was established in 2023 by Anthony and Annie Jefferson after developing a strong interest in more environmentally conscious products and ways of doing business.

Anthony and Annie have a long history in the plumbing and gas trades and Anthony is a certified plumber and gasfitter. As well as offering traditional plumbing and gasfitting services including installations, repairs, servicing, and maintenance, we can install hot water heat pumps - also known as air to water (A2W) heat pumps, and hydronic central heating.

Our experience and history in the gas and plumbing trades has led to where we are today

Annie and Anthony were dyed-in-the-wool gas enthusiasts who worked in the plumbing and gas fitting industry. With over forty years of combined experience, fifteen of those years operating a successful gas servicing company in Wellington, Annie and Anthony relocated to the Wairarapa to set up A2W Plumbing & Hot Water Limited.

"We started the business primarily to promote the more efficient hot water heat pump which is ideal for hot water and home heating. While gas is still a viable energy source, it is a fossil fuel - so for our customers already using gas, we aim to reduce their gas usage through three ways: remove gas and install a hot water heat pump, change out their old gas appliance for new, more efficient models, or service their existing unit to ensure that it is as efficient as possible."

Anthony Jefferson

Director

Anthony is Certifying Plumber and Gasfitter with decades of experience in water heating and hydronic home heating as well as general domestic plumbing and gas fitting work. Anthony loves playing golf, watching any sport on TV and Monteith’s Original beer.

Nathan Arnold

Electrical Division Manager

Nathan is an experienced, qualified electrician and a licensed specifier and installer of heat pumps and ducted heating systems. Nathan has four gorgeous kids under 10, so excuse the bags under his eyes some days! When he’s not working, Nathan enjoys playing darts, tinkering in his shed and mucking around with the kids.

Annie Jefferson

General Manager

Annie does everything that’s “not on the tools”. If you need to book an appointment or have a question, Annie is the friendly voice on the end of the phone. Having worked in the plumbing and gas fitting trades for over 20 years she can assist with most queries. Annie loves gardening, golf and doing as little as possible!

FAQ

It really depends on the job. For installations, we will do a free site visit and provide you with a written quote. There are no hidden extras on our quotes. What you are quoted is what you pay.

For repair work, where parts are required, we will let you know before beginning the repair what we estimate the cost to be. It is a little tricky with repairing appliances as sometimes repairing one part will highlight a fault somewhere else. This doesn’t happen all the time, but we do make people aware of this, just in case.

We have a minimum charge of $185 inc GST, and if there are additional appliances, we will do those while we are there at a charge of $65 per appliance.

One thing to be aware of is that lower hourly rates do not necessarily mean you will pay less. We are very experienced so we can generally diagnose a fault or undertake a service very quickly. We have come across customers who have ended up paying a lot more because the tradesman took twice or sometimes three times as long to do the job and ordered parts that weren’t required.

Servicing is maintaining an appliance that is already in working condition. If the appliance is not working, then it needs a repair rather than a service. Although we would usually do a service at the same time.

It really depends on what the appliance is. Gas heaters and water heaters generally take the longest to service. If you would like a breakdown of what we do for a service, do get in touch with us.
